Golden Week is one of the longest breaks in Japan. It celebrates important national holidays during the week from April 29 to May 5. They include Greenery Day, Constitution Memorial Day, and Children’s Day. 

Golden Week is usually a week-long break. However, in 2019, it was longer than usual. This is partly because a new emperor ascended the imperial throne on May 1 of the year.

Some people say it’s a bit too long. But other people take advantage of this longer GW to travel abroad, particularly to the West. If you see Japanese (-looking) people at tourist spots in your neighborhood, then you will see why!
